graf·fi·to , pl. graf·fi·ti
Usage: A drawing or an inscription made on a wall or other surface, usually
so as to be seen by the public. Often used in the plural.
My concept of Graffiti is
very broad. I know it when I see it ...It could be a store window, messages
left at a grave sight or a beautiful wall painting. It's out there for the public,
it may last for a thousand years or a few hours.
The photos on these pages
are taken from all over the world. They express humor, revolution, passion and
injustice, real or imagined. Many are just beautiful and make our life a little
easier. The photographs were taken by David R. Johnson.
Thoughts!
Some functions of Art:
To redirect awareness
To analyze awareness
To aid in the defining of
the strengths and weakness of consciousness.
An excellent peg to hang your
existentialism on.
Strong Beliefs:
A sound wave is not the phenomena
we experience called sound Without the sense receptors and a mental awareness
the Universe is silent.
A particular wavelength of
light such as 6.5 X 10 to the minus 7 meter is not the color red. Such a wavelength
is just a location of a place on the electromagnetic spectrum. The fact that
the energy of this wave when stimulating the sight receptors causes the mental
phenomena red is another matter. Without the sense receptors and mental awareness
the Universe has no image.
I believe the important aspects
of Art, the ability to stimulate imagination and discovery have become the Provence
of Science.
The extension of awareness
in the electromagnetic spectrum, possibilities of a multidimensional Universe
and the existence of dark matter we owe to Science. The idea to separate Science
and Art are human contrivances. Basically the goal of human consciousness is
to make a meaningful explanation of the Universe we live in. Both Art and Science
are large contributors to the understanding of the Universe. Unfortunately,
Art today has become a commodity that chases a market. A transcendence is at
hand where Science will take Art beyond the material experiences of the senses
into a realm of pure idea.
